Ed Barry:
Where did the past 50 years go?
- Attended
Virginia Tech and Old Dominion College; graduated from Old Dominion
University in 1966 with a BS in Geology.
- Worked
as Field Office Manager for a Houston area General Contractor then went to
Australia at end of 1966. Worked for marine geophysical contractor in
1967.
- Worked
as Architect’s Representative on Scope Convention Center from 1968 through
1971.
- Went
to work in Alaska as a Rig Geologist in 1972
- Worked
as Supervisor of Field Engineering on Trans-Alaska Pipeline Project 1974
to 1977; Manager of Projects for Alyeska
Pipeline 1978-1980;
- Construction
Manager for various other companies in Alaska including Arco, British
Petroleum, Houston Contracting and Alaska Petroleum Contractors through 1996.
- Owned
clothing store franchise; Canterbury of New Zealand at the Waterside for
several years;
- Now
working as Sr. Construction Manager for Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR);
recently returned from assignment in Papua New Guinea; previous
assignments in Australia, Canada,
Japan and Russia.
- Married
twice - Divorced twice; and have two great sons living in Virginia Beach.
I have a house in Virginia Beach and another house on the
Eastern Shore (Cashville). In my time off, I enjoy hunting, fishing,
skiing and biking and force myself to run for exercise. Also enjoy traveling and spending time with
friends. Member of Youth Services Club of Virginia Beach
