William Congdon:

Hi! Hoping you are all well and happy. Sorry I can’t make it to the reunion. We haven’t had any money for even a vacation in years. I retired about five years ago. I’m in very good health. Here’s a record of what I have been doing since 1960:

1960-1964: Civil Service Machinist Apprenticeship – graduated. Tim Kerlee was in my class.

1965-1969: Served in U.S. Navy – Amphibious Force Pacific – U.S.S. Mt. McKinley.

1970-1974: I relocated back to southern Connecticut where I was born and raised until I was 14. I worked in various outside machine shops – met and married my first wife in 1972.

1974-1979: We moved to central New Hampshire owning and operating our own motel and cottages business. We divorced in 1979 and I went back to my machinist trade. I married my second wife in 1982 and I’ve been here since. I worked enough years that I get enough social security to get by but I think it’s slightly less than the state average.

My second wife have been married 29 years so I guess I’m doing something right. I’m trying harder and that’s a help. Never had kids – that’s OK. I joined the VFW Laconia National Post in 1982 and that’s my only club membership. I like my whiskey every day and on time. My apologies to Tim Kerlee who was in my apprenticeship class. I might have seemed unfriendly but I was a shy kid and not too happy with the VA Beach area. I made a big mistake in going back to Connecticut. I tried to get back into Civil Service at Groton, Connecticut but I never heard from them. I’ve had my ups and downs but I think I’m a good person. My best to Jerry Kirby, although I want a wrestling rematch. I think I’m finally ready. He beat me every time in Phys Ed class. On a queen size mattress or bigger, please.  My best to Sara Tillis. She was always the “cat’s meow” for me. Well if just one of my classmates get a chuckle out of this, I’ll be happy. Best wishes to you all.
