John Cordero:

In July of 1960, my family moved to Hawaii where I attended the University of Hawaii from September 1961 to August of 1964. After returning to the “mainland” in 1964, I entered East Carolina University where I earned a Bachelor or Arts Degree in Psychology in November of 1966. I then earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling at the University of Florida in March of 1968. At that time, I undertook my first professional job as a counselor with the Virginia Commission for the Visually Handicapped in Charlottesville from March of 1968 to September of 1969. While in Charlottesville, I married Suzanne Williams originally from New York who was a Speech Pathologist with the Easter Seal Society in Culpepper, Virginia.. In September of 1969, we moved to Tampa Florida where I was employed as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the State of Florida. In June of 1970 we moved to Clearwater Florida where I was a work evaluator, and eventually director, of the Work Evaluation and Individualized Manpower and Training Services program with the Pinellas County School District until September of 1976. At that time, I returned to the University of Florida and earned a Doctor of Education degree in December of 1978. We then moved to Mobil, Alabama where I was employed as an Assistant Professor of Education at the University of South Alabama. In August of 1983, we moved to Orlando, Florida, and I entered the University of Central Florida and earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. We then moved to Los Angeles, California where I was employed at the University of Southern California as a Lecturer and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Computer Science, and eventually became the Assistant Department Chairman and director of the undergraduate program in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. I retired in December of 1998 and Sue and I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where we still reside. I am very happy with retirement as I keep busy writing a text on computer programming and composing and producing computer-generated New Age music. Sue and I had no children, but have had many cats. My best to all my fellow graduates of 1960.
