Don Davenport:
Life has been enormous, fantastic and rewarding for me since
leaving Princess Anne. I joined the Army with the intent to stay only 3 years;
however, it turned into 21 years which I truly loved, respected and eternally
grateful. I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, was a combat helicopter pilot with
two tours in Viet Nam, where I received 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses for
valor for rescuing personnel, a commander, and staff officer. Received three
degrees while on active duty along with a host of other accomplishments. After
retirement, I entered the civilian work force as a helicopter pilot, General
Manager of a helicopter company, worked as an executive assistance at an oil
and gas company with other duties as a helicopter pilot, helicopter pilot for
an ABC TV affiliate flying Electronic News Gathering, general manager of a
vehicle testing program for Chrysler Corporation and finally as the Director of
Transportation for Corpus Christi Independent School District. During my tenure
with CCISD, I also served as the State of Texas President for Pupil
Transportation, which represented over 1100 school district transportation
departments. My wife, Marcia, and I have been married for 25 years; have four
children, two each by previous marriages, and ten grandchildren. We now divide
our time between our homes in New Braunfels, TX and South
Fork, CO. Texas and Colorado are great states, so if you happen to be in either
of the areas call or come by and enjoy the great hospitality.
