Peggy Hedly:

I graduated from Madison College in 1964 with a BA in English Education…wanted to be another Mrs. Barnes. Had a wonderful four years with Synchronized swimming team, Tri Sigma Sorority and all the rules and regulations of a mainly “all girl college”.

Married Jon (USNA “63) in October 1964, and started the 28 year adventure of being a Navy wife, moving every two to three years…lived in Connecticut, South Carolina, Virginia, Utah (learned to ski really big mountains), Hawaii and back to Connecticut, Maine and finally ended up in New Hampshire. Why New Hampshire, you might ask? Me too.

We raised two boys, Tulsa and Michael. Tulsa lives in Mystic, CT., with his wife and my two amazing grandchildren, Tulsa J. and Sierra. Michael lives in New Hampshire.

I taught Jr. High English in Connecticut, Remedial Reading in Virginia, and finally became an Elementary Librarian in Maine after the boys went to college.  That was the best!  Jon and I used to ski a lot and to sail the Maine Coast in our 37 foot wooden sailboat. I now spend my time volunteering, golfing, playing bridge and singing in church choir and a women’s acappella chorus, the Sounds of the Seacoast. Our chorus competes with Harmony, Inc., an international group of about 80 choruses.  We came in 3rd internationally in Nov. 2009! Sounds of the Seacoast takes up most of my time and energy just keeping up!
