Elizabeth (Betty) James:
After graduating, I went to work for the City of Virginia Beach's
Commissioner of the Revenue's office, working for three Commissioners. In 1999,
I retired with thirty-eight years of service as Deputy Commissioner. I have one
son, Scott, from my first marriage. In 1984, I married Jack
Whitehurst, who is now retired from Coca Cola. For several years, I volunteered
with the Tidewater Association of Retarded Citizens, working on different
committees to help a day camp for handicapped children and young adults.
Today, I'm in a slow mode as retirement is great.
