Ed Jennings:

After a year at William & Mary in Norfolk (now Old Dominion University), I spent four years in the Marine Corps. In 1965, I returned to school at East Carolina University graduating in 1969 with a degree in Political Science. My first career, lasting only 12 years, was in hotel management and development. I managed several hotel properties in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida, becoming Director of Operations for two large hotel companies. Later, I became Director of Franchise Development for Holiday Inns for most of the U.S. east of the Mississippi River. By 1980, I was worn out by the constant travel and decided to come home to Virginia. I began my second career in commercial real estate brokerage and development that has now lasted for 30 years. The roller coaster ride of commercial brokerage and development has been both challenging and rewarding. I've had a few noteworthy accomplishments and have managed to clip a few coupons along the way, so life's good.

I have three children: Heather is a mother and schoolteacher living in Glenwood Springs, CO; Kimberly owns a pet care business in Richmond; and Kevin is currently finishing up his MBA at the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at UNC in Chapel Hill. My wife, formerly Beverly Perdue, is from Salisbury, Maryland. Bev is a professional artist and a graduate of Bridgewater College. We've been married for 12 years now. It's the second marriage for each of us. We divide our time between our homes in Midlothian and Nags Head and traveling......especially to the Southwest, Anguilla and Italy. We are also actively involved in several charitable organizations within our community.

I haven't retired yet nor do I intend to do so any time soon. However, I'm fortunate enough to have both the flexibility of time and good health to continue to pursue many outside activities that include backpacking, skiing, scuba diving, fly-fishing, adventure travel, photography and writing. Hopefully, my memory will also continue to serve me far into the future whenever I look back on my life's journey.
