Heather Laird and Howard Martin:

Here we are in 2010, looking at our 50th high school reunion……What happened???

Even though we did not graduate from PA (Heather moved to Pennsylvania in her senior year, and Howard did his junior and senior years of high school at Norfolk Academy), we feel so attached to and fond of our Princess Anne Class of ‘60.

After 45 years of marriage, we currently live in Suffolk, VA…moved to Cedar Point from Norfolk in  2003, and feel as if we are in our retirement home.  Heather is basically retired from various careers, the last being in human services; Howard is still a practicing attorney with the firm of Crenshaw, Ware and Martin in Norfolk, and in 2007-8 served as President of the Virginia State Bar.  Our three children are married and have their own families, with a total of four grandchildren who give us great joy and wonderful times.

Our lives have been punctuated by some interesting and challenging travel experiences….rafting for 8 days down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, trekking the four-day Milford Track in New Zealand, “barging” down the Rhone River in France, celebrating our 60th birthdays with all of our children in St. Bart’s, an American Bar Association trip to Hawaii, cruising through the Panama Canal, and most recently, several visits to charming and beautiful Switzerland to spend time with our son, Jeff, and his family, who are there on assignment with his employer, General Mills.  We love to travel and hope retirement will afford us more such opportunities.  Howard’s “bucket list” still includes quite a few far-away places!

We are so looking forward to seeing classmates in October and finding out what everyone else is up to.  Russ and the Reunion Committee have done a wonderful job of planning and preparation….we can’t thank them all enough!!

And remember….70 is the new 50!!!

See you in October!

Heather and Howard Martin
