Marsha Whitworth:
Mrs. White, my third grade teacher gave us a Weekly Reader
with a picture of a computer the size of a room and showed us the world on a
pull down, classroom wall map. I left school that day knowing I wanted to
teach, as well as see that big world! PAHS gave me the academic
foundation. I graduated from East Carolina, taught English and social studies
in Raleigh, NC, (Wonder if Mary B. would have believed that?), and met and
married my soldier boy, Col Jesse B. Wilkins, retired. We visited or lived in
38+ countries on 6 continents. Teachers do make a difference. I hope
somehow Mrs. White knows, and lucky for me, dreams do come true! I took 20
years off from teaching, moved often, and helped Jess rear our daughters,
Michele and Denese. I then returned to the classroom,
retiring after twenty more years, in 2004. Michele works in the world of
IBM. Denese and husband Matt also work in the
computer field, while rearing our young grandsons, Max and Sam. All live
in the Atlanta area. This is not one of those always happy Christmas
letters. We have had our ups and downs. Viet Nam, my open heart
surgery at thirty one, many military separations, and of course the challenges
of daily life with “ tweenage”
daughters and a very dedicated soldier husband. I feel blessed to have had
these 50 years since our graduation, and thrilled to once again be in the
company of Princess Anne High School’s Class of 1960. Cheers to each of
you! Marsha,”Toni”
